It has been found that being a DBA we should give attention on some of the important things as per routine DBA activities...
These are...
- Continuously monitoring for Blocking and Deadlocks.
- Monitoring Long running Jobs and Queries.
- Monitoring if all necessary SQL services are up and running.
- Monitoring if Backups are successfully completed.
- Monitoring all the databases are online.
- Monitoring SQL Server error Logs.
- Monitoring if Database Mail is running fine to ensure that alerts/notifications are being sent.
- Monitoring for Latest Cumulative updates, Service packs and License Expiry.
- Monitoring Space issue, Now there one important thing is here that we need to ensure that we are monitoring all the drives of the server other than Database drives.
- Monitoring Database file space.
- Monitoring Logspace.
